Do you need a Power BI template?

Power BI is a powerful data visualization tool that allows you to turn raw data into interactive dashboards and makes it easy to analyze, visualize, and share reports with your audience.

With Power BI, you don’t have to be a data expert—you just open the dashboard, connect it to a data source, explore, and export as a PDF or PPF or publish to the web within your organization if you have Power BI Workspace, a free account.

A Power BI template comprises the source data file (in our case, the Excel template) and the Power BI file (.pbix file)

How to Set Up

Step 1: Download Power BI Desktop

• Open your browser and go to the 👉official Microsoft download page. 
• Download Power BI Desktop
• Install the Power BI Desktop app on your PC

Step 2: Download Your Dashboard Package from SHEQXEL

• From our website, download the ZIP file containing the Power BI dashboard (.pbix) and the Excel data source (.xlsx)
• Right-click the file and select Extract All to unzip the folder
• You should now see two files
• The Power BI file(.pbix)
• The Excel file (.xlsx)(data source)

Step 3: Open the Power BI Dashboard

• Double-click the .pbix file to open it in Power BI Desktop
• If Power BI asks for a data source connection, follow the next step.

Step 4: Connect to the External Data Source

• In Power BI, go to the Home tab
• Click on Transform Data -> Data Source Settings
• If prompted, update the file path:
• Select Change Source..
• Browse to the Excel file you extracted earlier
• Click OK to confirm.
• Click Closed & Apply to load the data

Step 5: Explore Your Dashboard 🎉

• You can now view and interact with the dashboard
• Click on charts, filters and slicers to see how the data responds
• If you update the Excel file with new data, you can refresh the dashboard by clicking Refresh in Power BI.

If you have a Power Workspace account, you can simply publish your dashboard on the web for your audience to view without the need to share the source data.
